ABOUT US

Finangeste is an investor in the Portuguese real estate market where it has been active for over 40 years.

Our team of 40+ professionals has deep expertise across the entire value chain of real estate investing, including sourcing, due diligence and acquisition, licensing, ground-up development, repositioning and leasing, asset management and onward sales.

Our local relationships have been cultivated over our long history and include a nationwide network of agents, technical experts, local courts and planning offices, banks, accounting and legal providers as well as the full spectrum of local and international owners of Portuguese real estate.

Founded in 1978 by the Portuguese government to act as servicer to the Bank of Portugal and twelve other banks, the current shareholders acquired the company in 2015 and since then have grown assets under management tenfold to c. €1 billion today.

Finangeste manages its own wholly owned real estate portfolio, and has co-investment relationships with a number of private equity firms including Coller Capital, Zetland Capital and Patron Capital. Previous portfolios acquired together with HIG and KeyHaven have since been fully exited to cash at significant uplifts. Our proprietary reporting and asset management systems are best-in-breed and interact daily with our institutional co-investors and partners.

As the Portuguese real estate market continues to mature over the next business cycle, Finangeste will continue to grow assets under management across all sectors including residential, office, industrial and logistics. Our shareholders’ investment returns will continue to be driven via disciplined acquisitions, ‘deep dive’ specialist value-add activities, and ‘best-in-class’ onward asset management.

TEAM

Our people are our most important asset.

Unique in a Portuguese context, we have the ability to acquire a plot of unlicensed land, via an NPL, say, directly or as part of a portfolio, work the asset through the court system, license the land, develop the project, lease-up and either manage over the long-term, or, prepare for sale at any point in its lifecycle. This is possible, only because of the deep bank of knowledge that exists within our team of highly specialised legal, urban planning, engineering, architectural, asset management and sales experts. Where we co-invest with large institutional partners, we also provide full accounting and reporting services in-house.

PRO BONO

Finangeste fully understands the importance of giving back to the community that surrounds and supports us both professionally and personally. As business leaders, we have a responsibility to care for our staff as well as our environment.

We are proud to be a founding member of the ‘Sink The Ship’ project, a new initiative which seeks to preserve as well as increase marine biodiversity in the Algarve through the creation of artificial reefs. These reefs are to be created via the deliberate sinking of a number of ships. Over the following months and years these new reefs will slowly become a new home for various marine species, including a significant number currently classified as endangered. The reefs provide a wonderful starting point for marine education and understanding, providing visitors an opportunity to form a true connection with the sea and its creatures, and along the way helping us all to understand the importance of protecting the sea and its marine life not only for its future survival, but also for our own continued survival on Earth.
